FEATURE 2 - Freestyle or Self-Choreo
New Solo & Duo Challenge
This is a special category designed to push the boundaries of solo and duo VERSASTYLE dancers. During a scheduled time, dancers will come on stage to spin the music wheel. They will get time to listen to the music in order to prepare themselves for their performance. Top scores return to perform to a new song and style in a final showdown to find our IMPULSE champions.
- Dancers are encouraged to freestyle and self-choreograph
- Music wheel contains songs pre-selected by our directors
- Small set pieces are permitted
- Dancers are separated into brackets randomly
The Steps
Step 1
Dancers pre-register for the VERSASTYLE Impulse solo or duo categories
Step 2
Dancers check schedule and come to the stage for their music selection
Step 3
Dancers have time to listen, rehearse, practice and work with their teachers and peers
Step 4
Dancers return to stage for their scheduled performance times – they will be competing against other dancers in brackets
Step 5
Finalists will spin the wheels and perform one more time to find our solo champion and duo champions
Eligibility & Performance
- Registration must be completed in advance
- Soloists will compete against other soloists
- Duos will compete against other duos
- There is no separation by age divisions

What if my dancer doesn’t like the song?
The dancer should do their best to work with that they are given.
When does my dancer find out what song they are are assigned and they will be performing?
Your dancer will have a scheduled spin time and performance time in the schedule.
Is my dancer allowed to work with a choreographer?
Yes, they may work with a choreographer or on their own. However, dancers are encouraged to freestyle and search for moments while performing on stage as well.
