At Versastyle, our focus is bringing the heart back into dance competitions — where the dancer’s experience matters more than medals or ribbons. We believe in creating a space where growth, artistry, and connection come first.
Our scoring is transparent, realistic, and designed to support development. Dancers and teachers deserve clear, honest feedback that guides improvement without discouraging passion.
Remix
FEATURE 1 - NEW CHALLENGE
FREE Choreography Challenge
Each studio is assigned exclusive choreography and music to remix and perform in the REMIX Challenge. Choose 5–7 of your competitive or elite dancers to represent your studio and put your own spin on the piece by customizing formations and adding creativity.
Key Highlights:
- Studio-specific choreography & music provided
- Encourage creativity and collaboration
- REMIX banner, cash prize, and REMIX rings awarded
- Permitted to perform at Versastyle, studio showcase, or recital
Impulse
FEATURE 2 - FREESTYLE OR SELF-CHOREO
Freestyle Solo & Duo Challenge
IMPULSE is a spontaneous and creative challenge where dancers receive a randomly selected song and are given time to listen, prepare, and rehearse before performing on stage. Finalists return for a second round in a head-to-head showdown to determine the champion.
Key Highlights:
- Designed to push creativity and performance under pressure
- Music is randomly selected on site
- Dancers encouraged to freestyle and self-choreograph
- Separate categories for Solo and Duo
- Finalists perform a second time with new music
Unity
FEATURE 3 - PAID SHOWCASE
Collaborative Performance Showcase
UNITY is a theatrical-style group performance that brings together selected dancers from different studios to perform a unified choreographed piece on stage — and get paid for it. It’s a chance to collaborate, connect, and experience what it’s like to perform in a professional production.
Key Highlights:
- Studios select 4–7 intermediate/senior dancers
- Provided tutorial style choreography video
- Dancers rehearse with UNITY Director during the competition
- Dancers receive payment
- A true theatrical experience on the Versastyle stage
All-style battle
FEATURE 4 - BATTLES
Professional Freestyle Showcase
The All-Styles Battle is a high-energy freestyle battle where invited professional dancers face off live on stage. It’s an exciting opportunity for your dancers to witness authentic battle culture and be inspired by industry pros.
Key Highlights:
- Professional dancers compete in a freestyle elimination battle
- Great networking and learning experience for young dancers
- Workshops or Q&A (when time permits)
- Perfect break-time entertainment during the competition

Overtime & Replay
FEATURE 5 - DANCE OFFS
Dance Off
OVERTIME and REPLAY are our high-energy dance-off events, designed to spotlight routines that deserve a second chance to shine.
OVERTIME is for Competitive and Elite dancers. One routine is pre-selected by each studio. In addition, judges and the emcee each have one wildcard opportunity to ring the Golden Gong and invite an entry back.
REPLAY is for Pre-Competitive dancers. It follows the same structure as OVERTIME, but does not include the Golden Gong wildcard system.

- Defending Title invitations
- Transformation Winners: Presented to the routines that best applies judges’ notes between first and second performance

We set ourselves apart by offering exciting unique incentives — in addition to all the expected awards, placements, and overalls.
Defending Title
Top genre recipients receive an invitation and free entry to return to defend their title.
Cash Prizes
Receive the cash prize or twice the value in VSDC credits.
Judges' Stand Out Routine
Invitation and free entry to return and defend title.
Professional Work Opportunities
Selected dancers will receive paid photo/video work opportunities and selected choreographers will receive a paid invitation to choreograph for Versastyle next season.
